Sony NW A55 needs a Mr Walkman mod to unlock its true potential, the stock config is a bit meh. But with the firmware mod, it sounds excellent, great layering with the smooth buttery Sony house sound. 30+ hours battery life too. Only thing is A55 can’t power very demanding gear eg planars.

I haven’t tried the Groove, so you might wanna ask the rest about it. But from what I read it seems to don’t do well with multi BA high sensitivity gear.

A portable source which is quite good in technicalities is the E1DA 9038S/9038D. You can read about those, they have quite a lot of power too, but may drain your phone.
